Many businesses want to consolidate their online data into a single storage pool accessible to SAN, NAS or iSCSI-based servers. Benefits of centralised storage include ease of management, efficient backup and simplified disaster recovery through data replication. Online storage is often delivered by storage arrays through a Storage Area Network. As an HP Elite Storage Partner, Kavanagh has implemented many successful SAN solutions for HP MSA, EVA and XP arrays. When combined with HP's NAS/SAN fusion and iSCSI gateway technologies, centralised storage pools are not just a goal, but also a reality for many of Kavanagh's customers.
Offline storage has long been integrated into the SAN to allow efficient and reliable back up of business data to DAT, SDLT or LTO media. Depending on the business size this may require individual tape drives, MSL, EML or ESL tape libraries. Where backup and restore from tape does not meet business imperatives, Kavanagh can implement backup to disk solutions using low cost SATA disks or the HP Virtual Library System along with HP Software Data Protector software.
