Students will learn the concepts behind the Data Protector cell architecture and will be implementing the product in a heterogeneous environment. You will learn to configure, test and troubleshoot SAN and SCSI based tape libraries, including HP MSL. This course extensively covers Data Protector's sophisticated device, media management and replication capabilities including, automated copy, backup mirroring, disk-based virtual libraries, object copy, media (de) multiplexing and offsite rotation. Students will learn how to provide protection of business critical data to be able to perform various types of restores as well as system recovery in the event of a complete failure. Disaster recovery topics include the preparation and recovery of the cell manager, cell client and the Data Protector Internal Database. Students will learn to configure notifications as well as the central media management database.Audience
- Storage and system administrators using HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Version 6 on HP-UX, Windows or Solaris platforms.
Prerequisites
- For HP-UX, this course requires HP-UX System and Network Administration (H3064S) or equivalent experience
- Recommended: HP-UX and Network Administration II (H3065S) for students who will be working in the UNIX environment
- Recommend: POSIX Shell Programming (H4322S) is strongly recommended, but is not a prerequisite
